Reclaiming the Night, directed by Daniel Benjamin Wheeler, has been awarded Best Educational Film at the Tromsø Educational Film Festival 2026, held from 15–17 April in Tromsø, Norway.
Hosted by UiT The Arctic University of Norway, the festival brings together international works that explore the role of film in education, dialogue, and social reflection. Following its screening on Thursday 16 April as part of the Day 2 programme, Reclaiming the Night was recognised by the jury as a standout contribution to this year’s selection.
In their official statement, the jury described the film as “a powerful film that gives children in crisis a voice, offering insight, hope and a reminder of education’s transformative power,” adding that it was “a definitive favourite movie amongst the jury.”
A huge thank you to the festival organisers, jury, and audiences in Tromsø for their support and engagement. See the full list of winners.
